Spring Summer 2011; What’s happening!

Here’s a short update on what’s happening with the PTA during the coming months. Please get involved in any way you can.

  • National Spring Clean (25th February 10:00 am – 12:00 pm) – Bring a mop and bucket and help make our school gleam! We are asking for your support in giving the school a Spring clean. All you have to do is join the other volunteers on Friday 25th February and help out with some light cleaning (dusting, sweeping etc.) There is no school on this day but the children are more than welcome to come along with you. We hope to see as many of you as possible there. Even if you can only spare 20 minutes, every little helps!
  • Shamrocks (1st March) – The children were all given a notice about selling shamrocks to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This is a great fundraiser for the school and we are asking you to help raise as much as we can. Ask your friends, neighbours and family members if they would buy a piece of shamrock costing 3 euro, which they can wear on St. Patrick’s Day. 1.50 from each shamrock sold goes to our school. Return completed forms to the school by 1st March and we will give you the shamrock on 15th March, ready for the big day.
  • Book Fair  In March we are having our book fair. We receive 60% of all money raised to be spent on new books for our school. We need some volunteers to sell the books. The time slots are 8:30 to 8:40 each morning, 1:20 – 1:30 each afternoon, and 2:20 – 2:40 each afternoon. There is very little to do, you just take the  money from anyone who would like to buy a book. If you can spare 10 minutes please sign up on the PTA notice board in school.
  • Women’s Mini Marathon Monday 2nd May – Run or walk the mini marathon with other members of the Lucan East ETNS communitiy.
  • Fun Fair – Our fun fair will be taking place again in May of this year. The last two fairs have been fantastic. Time and date will be confirmed and we will post the details closer to the time.
  • Social Night – This is just an opportunity to get together with some of the other parents from Lucan East ETNS and have a night out. When we have decided a time and venue we will advertise it here and on the PTA notice board in the school.

If you would like any more information on anything related to the PTA drop in to see Linda (Junior Infants, Australia Class) or Neys (Chairperson). We will be looking for volunteers to help make sure the above activities can go ahead as planned and it would be great if you could spare some time to help in any way you can.

Thanks

  • Car boot sale : Sunday 5th of December from 12 to 4 pm

The entrance for cars/vans is 10 euros and there are tables for hire for 5 euros each, gates open at 11am for sellers, the admission is free for buyers.

There is tea and coffee for sale inside the school.

For more information please call 0862557867 / 0861922859

The car boot sales usually raise around E200 each time for our school and the more popular our sales are becoming the more money is raised for the school.

  • Social evening

The social evening at the Penny Hill was great fun ! We were about 8 parents and I think everybody had a good time talking together in a nice atmosphere. It will be even better if more people could come the next time we do it.

Minutes of PTA meetings

P.T.A. 21st April 2010

Car Boot Sales have become very popular. The last Car Boot Sale raised 230 euro and are proving a worthwhile fundraiser for the school.

Don is going to implement a car wash system at the Car Boot Sales/Fun Fairs.

Shamrock fundraiser was a great success and raised 500 euro for the school. We are planning on doing this again next year.

Book Fair raised 300 euros. We are considering looking at other companies next year.

The Bag Packing looks like it will not be going ahead in the near future due to supermarkets already having bag packers in place. It is something we think we will pursue in the future and will give a date once we have it.

The Social Night took place in the Penny Hill. The turnout was small and alternative venues are being considered for the next one. All suggestions are welcome for the next social outing due to take place in September.

The P.T.A. are thinking of putting in place a Mothers and Toddlers Group. The details of this will be finalised and posted here on the Blog in the coming months.

Don has been working very hard to ensure car parking is running as smooth as possible. Thank you to all who have helped with this and we ask that you continue to adhere to all the rules in place regarding parking.

Gardening

We are trying to make our garden the best garden that it can be. The children have had fun participating in this but to complete it we will need parent’s help. We hope to have a Gardening Afternoon sometime in May when parents and children can get together to get the garden up and running. Details will be posted soon.

Stay Safe Programme

We are going to hold a meeting for parents regarding the Stay Safe Programme which will be implemented in the school. Again this has been proposed and please continue to check for time and date of meeting.

Art Project

The Art Project has been narrowed down to four artists with a final decision expected on June 4th.
